About the Team |
Up until 1996 the Capital Area Football's PeeWee Division played 9 player football on a 50 yards wide field. The Southside team was known as the Rough Riders. In 1997 the league began playing 12 player football on a standard 65 yards wide field. In 1998 Capital Area participated in the New Brunswick PeeWee playdowns for the first time. The Southside team became known as the Red Bombers; named after the University of New Brunswick team that ceased operation after the 1980 season. In 2000 the Red Bombers advanced all the way to the New Brunswick PeeWee Championship Game. In 2002 the Red Bombers divided into two teams and became affiliated with Albert Street Middle School and George Street Middle School.
