2002  Season

November 22    Maritime Final        Truro Blue Bombers 41 Albert Street Eagles 8

This game was supposed to have been played in Moncton on November 17 but was nixed by a snowstorm. Truro informed Albert Street that they would not travel to N.B. so the Eagles elected to go to Truro to play under the lights on a Friday night.
The Eagles took the opening kickoff and after making a couple of first downs turned the ball over on a fumble on their own 45 yard line. Truro was unable to move the ball and punted. The Eagles returner lost the ball in the lights and the Blue Bombers recovered it on the Albert Street ten yard line. From there Kieran Higgins went in from the five and Truro lead 6-0.
Fredericton was unable to move the ball on the next series and had to punt. On the second play from scrimmage Craig Legere got loose around the left end and scooted 40 yards for the major. Jason Smith booted the convert to give the Blue Bombers a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter turned out to be the Eagles best one of the game. They mounted a long time consuming drive lead by the running of Brent Hawthorne and Fraser Boldon. Hawthorne would score the TD on a five yard run and Craig Prime kicked the convert to cut Truro's lead to 14-8.
The Albert defence was able to hold the Blue Bomber running attack in check during the second quarter. Their best play came with seconds remaining in the half when they stopped the Bombers on a third down gamble deep in Eagles territory. On Albert's first play from scrimmage QB Craig Prime hit Chris Murray in full flight deep in the Bomber secondary. He would get all the way to the Truro five yard line before being tackled. Unfortunately for the Eagles, time had expired.
The Blue Bombers broke things open in the third quarter. A "fumble rooskie" play by Craig Legere got the ball all the way to the Eagles 10 yard line. From here Legere would score and Truro lead 20-8. The Bombers defence was able to stop the Eagles ground attack in the third quarter. Truro moved into scoring position once more and capitalized when Jason Smith found Brandon McLean on a 20 yard touchdown pass. Smith ran for the convert to put Truro ahead  27-8 at the end of three quarters.
With the outcome of the game just about decided the Eagles spent much of the first half of the fourth quarter gambling on third down with little success deep in their own end. Albert's defence came up big twice with goal line stands but eventually Legere would get his third TD of the game on a one yard plunge. Smith booted the convert to put the Bombers ahead 35-8.
Higgins would get one more TD on a long run against the Albert  second stringers on the last play of the game to make the final score 41-8.

November 10    N.B. Final                            Albert Street Eagles 56 Sackville Titans 6

The Albert Street Eagles became the first team ever from the Capital Area Minor Football Association to win the New Brunswick PeeWee championship by virtue of their 56-6 pounding of the three time defending champion Sackville Titans.
The Titans received the opening kickoff and on their first series they were stopped on a third down gamble on their own 45 yard line. The Eagles took over and used the running attack of Brent Hawthorne and Fraser Boldon to march the ball down to the Titan 15 yard line. From there Hawthorne went around the left end and into the end zone for the game's first touchdown. Craig Prime booted the two point convert giving the Eagles an 8-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter the Titans were again unable to move the chains and were forced to punt. Starting at midfield the Eagles put together another time consuming drive that concluded with a five yard touchdown run by Fraser Boldon. Prime added the convert to make it 16-0. On the next series Sackville once again had to punt and this time the Eagles' Ben Thompson would block it giving Albert Street the ball on the Titans 30 yard line. Once more the Eagles ground attack would not be denied as Fraser Boldon would go in from the one yard line. Prime again added the convert and the Eagles lead 24-0.
With time winding down in the half Albert almost added to their lead again. Going to the air this time quarterback Craig Prime moved the Eagles to the Titans 25 yard line. A pass in the end zone was incomplete when two Eagles receivers collided on the last play of the half.
In the third quarter the domination continued. Hawthorne would score his second touchdown of the game on a 40 yard run. Prime would once more convert to put the Eagles ahead 32-0. Kevin Stewart would put the game completely out of reach when he went 60 yards on a reverse play for yet another major. Prime's convert made it 40-0 Eagles at the end of three quarters.
Sackville finally got on the board in the fourth when Steven Bohan got loose around the left end and rambled 60 yards for the Titans only points of the day. The convert attempt was unsuccessful as was Sackville's attempt at a short kickoff.
The Eagles offence was not finished. Prime would hit Luke Dolan with a 25 yard touchdown pass and Elliott Thompson scored on a 25 yard reverse play. He converted both scores which meant he was seven for seven on the day.
While the Eagles offence rolled up the points the defence totally smothered the Titans offence limiting it to one first down all game. The victory moves Albert Street into the Maritime Championship game against the Truro Blue Bombers. This game is scheduled for Sunday, November 17 at 1 pm at Rocky Stone Field in Moncton.

November 3     N.B. Semi-Final    Sackville Titans 40 Kennebecasis Valley Raiders 24

November 2     Capital Area Final       Albert Street Eagles 32 Oromocto Leopards 0

In a game played on a snowy field with high winds and freezing cold the Eagles offensive line dominated the line of scrimmage. Albert Street took the opening kickoff and used the one two punch of Brent Hawthorne and Fraser Boldon to march 60 yards for the game's first touchdown. Hawthorne's 25 yard run resulted in the score. Craig Prime booted the convert to put the Eagles up 8-0.
The Leopards were unable to move the ball against the Albert defence and were forced to punt. Once again the Eagles punishing running attack advanced the ball and once again it was Hawthorne going in from 25 yards out. Prime added the convert and the Eagles lead 16-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Hawthorne added his third TD of the game in the second quarter to raise the Eagles lead to 22-0. With time running out in the half Albert Street drove inside the Oromocto five yard line. This time the Leopards' defence held and Oromocto took over possession on its one yard line. On the first play from scrimmage the Albert defence sacked Leopards QB Jordan Heather in the end zone for a safety touch making the halftime score 24-0.
In the third quarter Oromocto moved the ball all the way to the Eagles one yard line but were unable to punch it into the end zone. The Eagles took over and once again put together a long drive that was capped by Fraser Boldon's 10 yard touchdown run. Prime added the convert to bring the final score to 32-0.
