October 3            Fredericton Junior Black Kats 26 Oromocto Junior Blues 14

In by far the best game so far this year the Blues used their air game to give the Black Kats all they could handle. The Blues struck first when quarterback Derek Squires hooked up with Jeff Squires on a 60 yard touchdown pass. Fredericton evened the score on smashmouth running back Kyle Currie's 30 yard romp. The Black Kats took a 12-6 lead going into halftime as Blake Lovely got in behind the Blue's defence and hauled in a 30 yard pass from Kats QB Marc Belliveau.
Fredericton opened some breathing room in the third quarter when Currie took a screen pass and rumbled 30 yards to pay dirt.  The Blues however, were not done. They capped an impressive 60 yard drive with Squires one yard touchdown pass to Kyle Levesque. Adam Gillan's convert narrowed the gap to 18-14.
The Kats were unable to move the ball on the next series and Oromocto took over at midfield. Using an excellent mix of passing and running plays the Blues moved the ball down to the Kats 10 yard line. A holding call moved Oromocto back to the 20 and the Kats picked off a Squires pass to snuff out the Blue's drive. Fredericton used a fierce ground game to run out the clock and score an insurance touchdown by, you guessed it, Kyle Currie on the last play of the game. Jeff McCormack would add the convert.
Hats off to two excellent teams for an exciting, well played football game.
