About the Team |
In 1996 the Capital Area Minor Football Association introduced minor football to Oromocto and the name Leopards was selected for one of the PeeWee teams. The other team was called the Grizzlies. In 1996 Capital Area Football's PeeWee Division played 9 player football on a 50 yards wide field. In 1997 the league began playing 12 player football on a standard 65 yards wide field. The Grizzlies and Leopards were merged and became known as the Leopards. In 1998 Capital Area participated in the New Brunswick PeeWee playdowns for the first time and the Leopards made it all the way to the championship game. The Leopards are not affiliated with either Ridgeview Middle School or Harold Peterson Middle School.
