Welcome to new members of the Executive

  • Handout of Minor Council Meeting Minutes meeting in Sussex on January 24, 2009 .
    • Discussion ensued about the Football NB All Play Policy; whether the penalties are too harsh and whether the All Play Policy should be enforced during play-offs.
    • Good idea overall and details to be worked out later.
    • Discussions to be expected at future Football NB meeting.
  • Minor Council Meeting Minutes – Football NS is looking to adopt to move the ages down one year for the 2009 season.
    • The Minor Association felt overall that NB would rather take a wait and see approach and see what happens over the next year in NS before a decision is made in NB.
    • Motion made by Steve Drisdelle that CAMFA does not want to change the age range.  Seconded by Marion McIntyre. Motion passed.
  • Two Tier Playoff System
    • Would work as long as teams played at their levels so that lower skilled teams could have the opportunity to play Championship games with teams at the same skill level.

Spring Football

If ages for fall stay the same, what will happen to the 15 and 17 year olds for the spring season.

o       NS has two U15 teams willing to travel to NB (CAMFA and Moncton ).

o       Some discussion that Moncton may not be interested in traveling.

o       Would it be possible to have two levels of U15 teams in CAMFA? Not this year.

o       We would have two teams of U15 similar to last year.

o       No provincial U15 team.

o       Would we have the quantity or quality of coaches to run this program?

o       Can we start assessing coaches now for coaching skill level.

o       CAMFA will not have an elite team this spring.

o       There would be value in developing a program to update coaches training on a frequent (monthly) basis for next season.

The U17 teams are yet to be determined.

o       A. Allaby to talk to some of the high school coaches to find out what their plans are.

o       CAMFA will offer assistance for insurance, field arrangements, etc. but the coaches will be responsible for coaching, practices and organizing games.

o       There will be an U17 provincial camp.

Provincial Voting Structure

CAMFA and Fundy have 15 votes each at the Provincial level. Three new organizations have joined the Provincial football organization. The President of Football NB has requested that each organization have only one vote per organization.  Larger organizations would then have the same voting power as smaller organizations.  The divisions are three touch football organizations, minor football (Camfa, Moncton , St. John ), men’s league, women’s football.

Motion by Rick Forrest .CAMFA not interested in changing the current voting system. Seconded by Steve Drisdelle . MOTION passed unanimously.
