Shawn Kit chen, Jeff Murdock, Kelly Murdock

Meeting called to order at 7:10 by Jeff Murdock.

1.  Registrar’s Report - Terry

The spring mail-out has been done for the U11, U13, U15 groups.  Jeff is to advise on

whether the U17 will go forward.  Anyone who hasn’t registered by mail will be able

to register on April 5th  provided they show up with payment.

Lisa Fagan and Kelly Murdock will work the registration desk on April 5th

      10:30 – 12:15 .  Michelle Harrison and Marion McIntyre will work 12:15 – 2:00

No deposit cheques for equipment will be taken on the 5th. That will be done when

      the equipment is issued.

2.  Fundraising Report – Kent

Jeff and Kelly provided some information on a bracelet fundraiser that other

organizations are doing.  Kent said that he will look at it .  He will also explore doing

a tag day at the market or a liquor store.

There was much discussion on how to improve the bottle drive initiative.  If a tractor

trailer (or two ?)  could be obtained and positioned so that both North and South Side

collectors could make their deposits there on the Saturday and the trailer taken to the

redemption center on Monday it would be ideal.  Jeff Murdock will contact Scott

Walker   at Tempo Transport about getting a trailer.

Kent will explore the possibility of getting a service club such as the Y’s Men,

Kinsmen or Kiwanis  as a major sponsor.

3.  Coaching Co-ordinator Report – Andrew Allaby for Dave Blanchard

There were 14 attendees at the quarterback camp.

A Level I Football Technical Coaching clinic is scheduled for April 11-13 at CFB

Gagetown.  So far only 4 coaches have shown interest.  12 attendees are required in

order to justify the expense of running the course. The V-Ps will call the coaches in

their respective areas and encourage them to attend.

There is a “Course Conductor’s “ course and  a Level III technical course being

offered at Saint Mary’s University May 16-18.

It was suggested that Don Davis be approached as a replacement for Jeff Kelly at the

      Coach seminar on March 19th.

4.  Equipment Manager’s Report – Shawn F.  and  Shawn K.

Jeff demonstrated his idea for a mesh wall to segregate the field equipment from the

the player’s equipment at the Hazen Centre.

Shawn K.  reported that the lights at Willie O’Ree Place are finally functional.  A few

new ones, for example in the changing area,  need to be installed at CAMFA’s cost.

He was given the go-ahead to make the arrangements to get it done.  Shawn K.

provided receipts for expenditures for work done at Willie O’Ree Place and reported

that his son was owed payment for the cleaning of 31 helmets.  Shawn K.  also

provided a list of equipment repair items which were required.

Shawn F.  indicated that he was somewhat unclear as to what was required to be done

at the Hazen Centre.  Executive is to assist with doing the inventory there.

5.  President’s Report - Jeff

Jeff  proposed that we consider adopting a policy on chin straps that is currently in use

at the MFA.  For health reasons ( chin straps could get saliva and blood on

them), players are issued a chin strap to keep for their minor career the first

time they register to play.  If they lose it from one year to the next then they must

purchase a new one.    It was agreed to start with this approach in the fall.

Jeff indicated that Eric Bissonette is interested in coming to spring camp to assess

how football players may  benefit from his core strength training offerings.  It was

agreed that he could be given the opportunity.

New Business

AFL – Terry

Terry attended a  meeting in Presqu’ Isle Maine . They have an 8-man football community-based program in place.  Basically Grade 11 & 12 are classified as varsity and Grade 9 & 10 are JV.  They have 15-20 players /team.  We are accepted into their league if we wish to participate.  With some recruitment we could get a team together

that consists largely of  Ecole St. Anne students.  FHS students that don’t make the varsity team could be eligible.   Mike Beauchamp who has a son at

Ecole St. Anne is keen to be involved.  Terry was given the go-ahead  to see if he can  get this launched.

Jeff will attend the upcoming FNB planning meeting.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:50 .
