   Executive Meeting Minutes

Attendance: Terry McIntyre, Marion McIntyre, Andrew Allaby, Justin DeMerchant, Jody Steeves; David Blanchard, Joey Smith, Michele Coleman, Shawn Kitchen  

Absent: Marvin Nash, Steve Drisdelle, Ray Muir, Lisa Fagan, Rick Forrest  

Stuffed envelopes for Spring Football from 7:00 until 7:55 .

Meeting called to order at 7:55 pm  

1.    President’s report

Missing attendees to be contacted to notify A Allaby when meetings will be missed  

Nomination for FNB Awards

PeeWee Volunteer of the Year A Allaby nominated Jory Smith (raised $6000 for team travel); he had also won coach of the year

Lifetime Service Award

Gridiron – A Allaby nominated Shawn Kitchen

Bantam Volunteer of the Year

Coaches should be identified for Spring Football – A Allaby to follow-up with D Blanchard  

Count team kit bags and count body pads on 1 pm on Sunday  in Oromocto – many hands make light work  

2. Registrar’s report

·        700 registration letters will be mailed out tonight for Spring Season  

3. Fundraising report

·        Bottle drive will not be conducted during the rain; issue is that trucks will have already been rented;  pull out on Friday if the weather reports indicates rain

·        A Allaby to look into getting a special rate or cancellation deal for U Haul Rentals

·        Can a corner of the Best Metals yard be borrowed for the bottle drive?

·        Beer boxes can be left on trucks and white bags of cans/bottles can be stored at Hazen or O’Ree storage areas

·        Idea of making the bottle drive day a full football fun day with a barbeque, football game or events in afternoon for the fall  

4. Equipment Managers report

·        New racks were installed at the Willie O’Ree storage facility and helmet racks in the Hazen Centre

·        New helmets arrived for review to replace middle school helmets (prices ranged from $70 to $150)

                                                  i.      Selection made for Riddell Attack for Mosquito age and Advantage for Middle School to be tested during the season before major purchase

·        Plans to relocate equipment to higher levels during spring floods – what needs to be moved and what is available for elevated storage

                                                  i.      Tables will need to be purchased (6);

                                                ii.      Motion made by T. McIntyre to allocate up to $500 for tables for flood purposes for the Oromocto Storage area.  Seconded by A. Allaby. Money will not be spent until next meeting after options iii and iv are investigated

                                              iii.      J. Smith will look into the availability of excess tables at work that may be able to be purchased at salvage prices

                                             iv.      J. Steeves to look into availability at A to Z Rentals to have tables for disposal  

5. Coaching Coordinator’s report: Dave Blanchard

·        After letters for Spring Football get mailed out, Dave will call for coaches  

·        April 24-25 Coaching meeting in Truro conducted by Stampeders staff.  Coaches from Atlantic University football programs were invited to attend. FNB will pay for four coaches for each association.  The names should be submitted by the end of March as the rates increase on April 1.  Minor coach names submitted to date are V Sturgeon, J Smith, D Knot, D Blanchard, R Squires.   Squires and Blanchard may be able to get funding through the high schools.  No women’s or men’s coaches names have been submitted yet.  

·        Quarterback camp March 1-3 (Receivers and Quarterbacks) had 20 players (8 quarterbacks) with players 12-17 years old.  Full gear was worn at the camp.  

·        After D Knot and D Blanchard complete the facilitator’s course, they will be able to conduct a community coaching course  

·        What will be the program for U15? Will there be a development and an elite team or will the best 35 players picked for one team.  It’s not known what other teams are yet.
