  1. Presidents report

JM   Provincial Championship weekend

  • Deemed a success by all accounts as several compliments were received including a call from Bill Hunt ( Daily Gleaner) who indicated he was very happy with the set-up
  • Canteen profit is estimated to be $300 - $400; 50/50 netted $225
  • DB is to apply for $3000 grant for hosting a Provincial Championship which is available from FNB

JM Maritime Championships

  • Buses have been booked for 9:30 departure for PeeWee  and 11:30 for Bantam;  mandatory for players to travel on the bus
  • Players will be charged $20 for the bus and will be fed a lunch to be organized by Michelle H.   Seats on the PeeWee bus will also be available to parents on a first come – first served basis for the $20 cost

JM Outstanding Gear

  • In Fredericton approximately 10 sets from Lions, 6 Mosquitos and 3 from Leonard’s team
  • In Oromocto nothing major outstanding – LF is pursuing

JM Sports Investment Dinner

  • A good opportunity to potentially raise significant funds.  We have been O.K’d to participate with auction items. It is important to do a good job if we want continued participation.
  • Potential live auction items being pursued
    • Kent – 4 Patriots tickets, hotel stay
    • Terry –  Riddell season tickets on the 50 yard for a Bill ’s game
    • Jeff – 2 Seadogs tickets and an overnight stay in Saint John
    • Jeff – Leroy Washburn print
    • Jeff – airfare paid through points obtained from Sobeys
  • Items for the silent auction table are also needed
  • Tickets to attend the dinner are $75.  We should have at least 3 CAMFA reps in attendance.

JM  Fair Play

  • The majority were in agreement that  in light of this year’s complaints regarding fair play that amendents should be made to our code.
  • There was much discussion of possible amendents and Jeff is in favor of making and adopting motions for amendment at the December meeting. Some of the possibilities:
    • Cap number of players per team.  Once registration limit is reached for a team, offer any newcomers the opportunity to play for another team whose roster is not full.
    • Set  a maximum  number of players to be dressed for each game ( 30 for middle school;  35 for bantam 8 & 12 man). Coaches to present the list to opposing coaches and officials at beginning of each game.
    • In the regular season each player on the dressed list shall be quaranteed to be on the field for a minimum  of 3 plays.
    • When numbers are low, for safety reasons, remove the cap on number of players who are permitted to go both ways.
  • KM suggested that  having the Bowl games in the middle of the season sparked the coachs’ and the kids’ competitiveness and worked to the detriment of fair play.
  • JM suggested that  proposals for amendments to the code be submitted to Jeff  by December 1 for circulation  and consideration of the executive prior to the December 10 meeting.

2. Coaching Coordinator’s report

DB  Clinics

  • Dave went over dates of upcoming clinics being offered outside CAMFA; he sought input for timing of a community and level 1 to be conducted by CAMFA

DB Coaches Certification

  • Dave circulated a list of CAMFA’s  coaches and their certifications. He will contact those who do not have level one but will need to have it in order to coach in 2009 per FNB guideleines.

DB Disciplining Coaches

  • As many on the executive are coaches themselves it would seem appropriate to establish a separate disciplinary committee.

 3. Fundraising report

KM Bottle Drive

  • Despite the inclement weather a great success.  Kent and Shawn Kitchen suggested that we consider combining this with the Pass, Punt & Kick and Fastest Player Competitions and re-brand it as a “ Fredericton Football Fun Day”
  • Kent was notified that the Oromocto redemption centre has a cheque for us.  Some folks took their bottles there when they were unaware that the collection point moved from OHS to the Hazen Centre.

KM Fredericton Sports Investments Dinner

  • Kent is having some difficulty in putting his Patriots package together ; Terry’s  Riddell  possibility for Bill ’s tickets sounds like a better option to pursue

 4. Equipment Managers report

Neither Shawn in attendance.  See President’s Report re: outstanding gear.

5. Officials report:

RM Qualified Officials

  • The need is huge.  Ray will put on a course if we can recruit attendees.  You would need to be 16 to take the course.  The ideal age  for new recruits would be early 20s.
  • We will post  the need for officials on the web site and advertise any clinics there.

6. Treasurer report:

TM Jumpstart

  • There is approximately $2000 outstanding to be collected
  • Required sponsorship lines on forms have been signed.  KM will  deliver forms to Dave Kelly for forwarding to Jumpstart.

TM Preliminary Financial Statements

  • At this point we have more or less broken even.  However, there are a few minor bills outstanding as well as  Jumpstart, Kinsmen Canteen proceeds and FSI Dinner revenues to be recognized.
