Oromocto Squirt Roughriders Flag Football

About the Team

The "Roughriders" nickname was first used by Capital Area Minor Football in 1996 for one of teams competing in the "Mosquito" Flag Football League for players aged 7-10 during that league's first year. In 1999 the "Mosquito" program became a tackle football league for youth aged 10-11. The Flag program became known as "Squirt" and now catered to the  smaller group of 7-9 year olds. This was also the first year that Flag Football was introduced to Oromocto and the Roughriders became an Oromocto team at that time.
