                                                 2003  Season

November 16   Maritime PeeWee Final      Sackville Titans 66 Timberlea Titans 14

Sackville scored early and often against their smaller and younger opponents. The score was 42-0 at halftime.
In Nova Scotia PeeWee players cannot turn 13 until after July 1 in the year of play. In New Brunswick they cannot turn 14 until after December 31 in the year of play. This represents a 6 month age advantage for New Brunswick that was very obvious in this game. In previous years Nova Scotia had a three month age advantage that lead to lopsided scores in the other direction.
Needless to say,  the two provinces need to get their age groupings the same. If this does not happen, the future of this worthy event will be put seriously in doubt.

November 9   N.B. PeeWee Final                    Sackville Titans 32 Simonds Sharks 0

October 26   Capital Area Final           Albert Street Eagles 36  Oromocto Leopards 32

The Eagles took the opening kickoff and mounted a long drive that culminated in Elliott Carr's two yard touchdown run. Zach Cann added the convert to put the Albert Street up 8-0. The Leopards answered back with Jordan Gardiner's 40 yard romp around left end for six points. The convert was no good leaving Albert up 8-6 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter both offense's kicked into high gear. Another long Eagles drive was capped by Ryan Downe's one yard plunge for six points.  The Leopards fumbled on the ensuing kickoff return and Albert recovered. On the first play from scrimmage Elliott Carr rumbled 40 yards for the major giving the Eagles a 20-6 lead.
The Leopards answered back on their next offensive series when QB Jordan Heather found Seth Gillan on a 65 yard pass and run play for a touchdown. Gillan added the convert to close the gap to 20-14.
Albert took the kickoff and mounted another long drive that ended with Downe going in from one yard out. Cann added the convert and the Eagles had restored their lead to 28-14.
However, Oromocto's Gillan was not finished as he busted loose on a 50 yard touchdown run to cut the gap to 28-20 at halftime.
The defences of both teams stiffened in a scoreless third quarter.
The Leopards cut the lead to two when Heather hooked up with Chris Hillier on a 50 yard pass and run play. The Eagles recovered Oromocto's attempted short kickoff and mounted another long time consuming drive. Downe would cross the goal line from one yard out for another six points. Cann  added the convert to give the Eagles a 36-26 cushion with two minutes to play.
However, the Leopards were not done. A good kickoff return put them at midfield. A couple of passes and they were deep in Albert Street territory. Heather found Hillier again in the Eagles end zone to cut the lead to 36-32.
Oromocto successfully executed a short kickoff and were in possession of the ball at midfield. The Eagles defence came up big stopping the Leopards on a third down gamble. Albert's offence took the ball, gained a couple of first downs and ran out the clock. The win gave the Eagles their second consecutive Capital Area Middle School Football Championship.
