It was a defensive battle with youth coming out on top as the Varsity Kats beat the Cowboys 7-6 in Week 9 action.  Dave Dolan scored 6 for the Kats and Greg Madsen had the convert.  The Cowboys were led by Rick Forrest, Pizza Hut Player of the Week, throwing a TD pass to Mike Lavigne.  In other action, Dolan's is staging an impressive second half run as they outlasted the Red Bombers 20-6.  It was a close game at half time, but the wheels came off for the Red Bombers when QB Phillips pulled up with a bad hamstring.  Dolan's had TDs from Matt Darrah, Matt McGuire and Tommy McGinn.  The Red Bombers were led by Danny Gibson on defense and offense.  Gibson added to his league leading total in interceptions and put 6 points on the board scoring the Red Bombers’ only TD.  The night was capped off by the Battle of Former Champions.  The Spartans (aka Young Guns), 2005 Champions, faced undefeated St Mary's.  St Mary's was led by the arm of Bobby McIntyre, throwing TDs to Mark Coy and Andrew Sutherland, beating the Spartans 13-6.  Dave Skillen caught a TD pass from Andrew Hickey.

Former UNB Red Bomber, Chuck Proudfoot, named Pizza Hut Player of the Week  

An experienced Dolan's squad led by former UNB Red Bomber, Chuck Proudfoot, beat the Varsity Kats in local Fredericton Touch Football 26-14 in Week 5.  Scoring for Dolan's was Matt McGuire, Matt Darrah, Justin Clark and Sean Underhill .  Replying for the Kats was Elliot Hicks and Neils Thakkar.  St. Marys kept their undefeated streak alive by defeating the Bombers 28-13.  St, Marys had TDs from Mark Coy, Randy Bell and Bobby McIntyre.  The Bombers were led by Donald Guy and Kurt Mombourquette.  In other action, the Valley Graphics Spartans out played the Cowboys 34-0.  The Spartans had TDs from Mike Callaghan, Justin Conn, Dave Carr, and Ethan McLellan.

St Mary's and Spartans remain undefeated in Touch Football  

After week 2, St Mary's and the Alumni Spartans remain undefeated in local touch football.  St Mary's had touchdowns from Randy Bell and Andrew Sutherland to beat the Varsity Kats 14-0 to keep their streak alive.  The Alumni Spartans beat a veteran Red Bombers squad under the lights 38-12.  Leading the Spartans was Eric Watson with 2 TDs.  Other TDs came from Dylan Sullivan, Justin Conn, Elliot Thompson and Ethan McLellan.  Scoring for the Red Bombers was Danny Gibson and Tim Whitters.  Other action included Dolan’s Pub beating the Cowboys 14-6.  Jared McGinn threw TDs to Dave Johnson and Chuck Proudfoot.  Scoring the Cowboy’s first TD of the season was Pizza Hut Player of the Week, Daryl Lisson.

Touch Football League Kicks off Season  

     St. Mary’s continued their winning ways in Fredericton Touch Football this week as the 2007 season kicked off at Buchanan Field on Wednesday night.  St. Mary’s defeated the Cowboys 29-0 led by 2 TD performances from Bell and Francis.  In other action, the Spartans (Alumni Kats) are out to prove that offense can win championships as they rolled over Dolan’s Pub 47-6.  The Spartans were led by Pizza Hut Player of the Week, Andrew Hickey with 2 TDs.  Hickey also threw TD passes to Watson, Sullivan, Skillen and Conn. The final game featured the league’s newest team, Varsity Kats who came up short against the Red Bombers, losing 19-12 in a game decided in the final minutes.  Scoring for the Red Bombers with 1 TD each was Gibson, Lisson and Guy.  The Varsity Kats had TDs from Keys and Durling
