Mike Dollimore presents his trophy to the 2001 Capital Area Bantam Champions
Mike
Dollimore, a native of Montreal, came to Fredericton to attend the
University of New Brunswick and play football for the U.N.B. Red
Bombers. He helped them win Atlantic University Championships in 1969
and 1970. Mike was selected as a league all-star center. After graduating from U.N.B. he remained in Fredericton, first working as a school teacher and later as a school administrator. Mike was one of the founders of the Fredericton Minor Football Association circa 1974, the predecessor of the Capital Area Minor Football Association. He was also one of the key people involved establishing football at Fredericton High School in 1985; a struggle that took almost five years. Mike was awarded the Football New Brunswick Lifetime Service Award in 1994. He served as President of the Fredericton Minor Football Association until the end of 1995. Most years Mike attends the Capital Area Bantam Championship game to present his trophy to the winners. |
