Fredericton's Jacob Thomas was a member of the
 Canadian Team competing in the inaugural International Federation
 of American Football World Junior Championship held in 
Canton, Ohio from June 27 to July 5, 2009.
He was selected as a member of the tournament's second all-star team.

Flag football: Representing New Brunswick at the NFL/CFL national flag football championships for boys and girls between the ages of 12-17 July 24-26 at Carleton University in Ottawa is the team including, front, Marcus Whittingham of Saint John (manager), second row, from left: Elliot Vautour of Saint John (alternate), Tyler Thorne of Saint John, Frederick Hammond of Saint John and Aaron Barker of Saint John (alternate), back row, from left: Darcy Barker of Saint John (coach), Blake Murphy of Fredericton, Nicholas Beale of Saint John, Mark Stewart of Fredericton and Kane Price of Saint John. The team competes in the U15 division with games against Ontario, Quebec, P.E.I. and Nova Scotia. The team leaves July 23 for Ottawa.
