After their hard fought
win over Oromocto in the sem-final the Silverados had a much easier time
in the championship game. Calais-St. Stephen lead 26-0 at halftime. The
winners now advance to the Maritime Championship against the Nova Scotia
champion next Sunday at Rocky Stone.

Cam Shorey had three touchdowns and a pair of one point converts for the
Silverados. Ryan Cavanaugh scored their other six pointer and ran for a
convert.
James Mitchell
ran for two Tiger TDs and passed to Mitch McCoy for two more. Zach
MacLaren added a one point conversion.
After trailing
21-13 at the half Oromocto rallied to score two second half touchdowns
including one with less than a minute remaining to close the gap to
27-25. A two point conversion attempt that would have tied the game was
no good, leaving the Silverados with the victory and a berth in the
provincial final.

Middle School Tigers from Oromocto was a dominating presence with
three rushing touchdowns leading the Tigers to a 27-2 victory over
George Street Crusaders and the Capital Area Minor Football
Association DQ Middle School Football championship. Tigers now advance
to the provincial peewee semifinal against the champion from the Fundy
Association Sunday in Saint John.
Ridgeview Middle School Tigers of Oromocto have
taken the first step towards winning a provincial peewee football
championship.
Tigers defeated the George Street Crusaders 27-2 Sunday at Nashwaaksis
Middle School Field to win the Capital Area Minor Football Association
DQ Middle School football title.
They now get to travel to Saint John to play the Fundy Minor Football
Association champions in what amounts to the provincial peewee
semifinal. That game is scheduled Sunday.
It was Joel Toole who stole the show for the Tigers against the
Crusaders, scoring three of the four touchdowns via the ground. QB James
Mitchell hooked up with Mitch McCoy for the other scoring major with
McCoy adding a convert and single. George Street's only points came via
a safety.
Tigers' defence also made a goal line stand in the third quarter with
the Crusaders attempting to get back in the game with the score 21-0 at
that point.
Tigers had earned their way into the Capital final with an 8-1 win over
the Oromocto Panthers in semifinal play. Crusaders were 32-6 winners
over Nashwaakis Nordics in the other semifinal.

It's going to be the George Street Crusaders playing
the Oromocto Tigers Sunday at noon for the championship of the Capital
Area Minor Football Association DQ Middle School Football League.
The Nashwaaksis Middle School Field will provide the setting with the
winner advancing to the provincial middle school semifinal.
Both teams advanced via semifinal wins with the Crusaders hammering the
Nashwaaksis Nordics 32-6 and the Tigers getting past the Oromocto
Panthers 8-1.
Tyler Howe had a pair of second half touchdowns to break open what had
been a tight game in the Crusaders victory. Garrett Gee also caught
touchdown passes from Mathieu MacDonald and David Thomas.
MacDonald also teamed up with Jay Murray on a 60-yard pass and run play
going for another major. Jeff Holden added a convert.
Ben Hayden connected with Anthony Crouse on a play covering 30 yards to
account for the Nordics points in the third quarter, moving them to
within six points at that point in the game.
Joel Toole picked off a pass and ran it back for a touchdown with less
than a minute remaining to account for the Tigers touchdown in their win
over the Panthers. Mitch McCoy added the convert. The Panthers got a
point courtesy of Patrick Healey.
In quarter-final play, the Nordics defeated Devon Wildcats 14-0 with
Hayden running for a touchdown and adding the convert.
Brandon Ferris had the other major score.
Panthers won their quarter final game 27-0 over the Albert Street Eagles
with Panthers' QB Jordie Strohm running for a touchdown, connecting with
Michael Steele for another and kicking a single. Steele also returned an
interception for a touchdown.
Jesse Gauvreau had the other major score for the Panthers while Healey
added a convert

Two
second half touchdowns by Tyler Howe broke open a tight game and staked
the Crusaders to a runaway win. Garett Gee caught touchdown passes from
Mathieu MacDonald and David Thomas. MacDonald also hooked up with Jay
Murray on a 60 yard pass and run play that has to be among the prettiest
plays for 2006. Jeff Holden added a convert.
Ben Hayden
connected with Anthony Crouse for a 30 yard touchdown pass that brought
the Nordics within six points midway through the third quarter.

to 700 spectators watched the Nordics record their second straight bowl
win.

more six pointer in the fourth quarter.

winning touchdown as well as kicking a convert and a rouge.

Crusaders recorded their first ever win over the Eagles in a game played
at College Field in front of the students from both school plus a
contingent from Ecole Ste. Anne; close to 1,400 spectators.

After a
scoreless first half that featured unyielding defences Thomas Tremblay
returned the second half kickoff 75 yards to put the Crusaders up
6-0.
With less
than five minutes remaining in the game the Nordics defence intercepted
a George Street pass and set the offence up on the Crusaders 25 yard
line. From there Nasis drove for paydirt with Ben Hayden bulling into
the end zone from four yards out. Anthony Crouse caught a pass from
Hayden for the convert to put the Nordics up 7-6 with three minutes
remaining.
The
Crusaders put together a drive in the game's dying minutes that finished
with Alex De finding Patrick Surette in the end zone from five
yards out. Jeff Holden added the convert to put George Street
ahead 14-7.
On the
ensuing Nasis possession in the final minute, Crusaders linebacker Shawn
Reid intercepted a fourth down pass and returned it for the
insurance TD.

Joel Toole rushed for two touchdowns and James Mitchell returned a punt
for one more as the Tigers won their second in a row. The Tigers'
defence has yet to allow a point this season.
