November 19                             
Maritime PeeWee Championship 

                            Halifax North End Argos 44 Calais-St. Stephen Silverados 8

       260 pound running back Terrence Mendes was a one man wrecking crew for the Argos rumbling for five touchdowns. Derrick Brown passed to Kyle Frost for the other Halifax major. Charlie Ames kicked four converts.
      Ryan Cavanaugh ran back a kickoff 75 yards for the Silverados and then booted the convert.

November 12                       New Brunswick PeeWee Championship

  After their hard fought win over Oromocto in the sem-final the Silverados had a much easier time in the championship game. Calais-St. Stephen lead 26-0 at halftime. The winners now advance to the Maritime Championship against the Nova Scotia champion next Sunday at Rocky Stone.  

November 5                             New Brunswick PeeWee Semi-Final

          Cam Shorey had three touchdowns and a pair of one point converts for the Silverados. Ryan Cavanaugh scored their other six pointer and ran for a convert. 
          James Mitchell ran for two Tiger TDs and passed to Mitch McCoy for two more. Zach MacLaren added a one point conversion.
          After trailing 21-13 at the half Oromocto rallied to score two second half touchdowns including one with less than a minute remaining to close the gap to 27-25. A two point conversion attempt that would have tied the game was no good, leaving the Silverados with the victory and a berth in the provincial final.

Joel Toole of the Ridgeview Middle School Tigers from Oromocto was a dominating presence with three rushing touchdowns leading the Tigers to a 27-2 victory over George Street Crusaders and the Capital Area Minor Football Association DQ Middle School Football championship. Tigers now advance to the provincial peewee semifinal against the champion from the Fundy Association Sunday in Saint John.

Ridgeview Middle School Tigers of Oromocto have taken the first step towards winning a provincial peewee football championship.

Tigers defeated the George Street Crusaders 27-2 Sunday at Nashwaaksis Middle School Field to win the Capital Area Minor Football Association DQ Middle School football title.

They now get to travel to Saint John to play the Fundy Minor Football Association champions in what amounts to the provincial peewee semifinal. That game is scheduled Sunday.

It was Joel Toole who stole the show for the Tigers against the Crusaders, scoring three of the four touchdowns via the ground. QB James Mitchell hooked up with Mitch McCoy for the other scoring major with McCoy adding a convert and single. George Street's only points came via a safety.

Tigers' defence also made a goal line stand in the third quarter with the Crusaders attempting to get back in the game with the score 21-0 at that point.

Tigers had earned their way into the Capital final with an 8-1 win over the Oromocto Panthers in semifinal play. Crusaders were 32-6 winners over Nashwaakis Nordics in the other semifinal.

It's going to be the George Street Crusaders playing the Oromocto Tigers Sunday at noon for the championship of the Capital Area Minor Football Association DQ Middle School Football League.

The Nashwaaksis Middle School Field will provide the setting with the winner advancing to the provincial middle school semifinal.

Both teams advanced via semifinal wins with the Crusaders hammering the Nashwaaksis Nordics 32-6 and the Tigers getting past the Oromocto Panthers 8-1.

Tyler Howe had a pair of second half touchdowns to break open what had been a tight game in the Crusaders victory. Garrett Gee also caught touchdown passes from Mathieu MacDonald and David Thomas.

MacDonald also teamed up with Jay Murray on a 60-yard pass and run play going for another major. Jeff Holden added a convert.

Ben Hayden connected with Anthony Crouse on a play covering 30 yards to account for the Nordics points in the third quarter, moving them to within six points at that point in the game.

Joel Toole picked off a pass and ran it back for a touchdown with less than a minute remaining to account for the Tigers touchdown in their win over the Panthers. Mitch McCoy added the convert. The Panthers got a point courtesy of Patrick Healey.

In quarter-final play, the Nordics defeated Devon Wildcats 14-0 with Hayden running for a touchdown and adding the convert.

Brandon Ferris had the other major score.

Panthers won their quarter final game 27-0 over the Albert Street Eagles with Panthers' QB Jordie Strohm running for a touchdown, connecting with Michael Steele for another and kicking a single. Steele also returned an interception for a touchdown.

           Two second half touchdowns by Tyler Howe broke open a tight game and staked the Crusaders to a runaway win. Garett Gee caught touchdown passes from Mathieu MacDonald and David Thomas. MacDonald also hooked up with Jay Murray on a 60 yard pass and run play that has to be among the prettiest plays for 2006. Jeff Holden added a convert.
          Ben Hayden connected with Anthony Crouse for a 30 yard touchdown pass that brought the Nordics within six points midway through the third quarter.

October 22                                         Semi-Final

           Joel Toole returned an interception for a touchdown with less than a minute remaining in the game to lift the Tigers to a come from behind victory. Mitch McCoy added the convert.
           The Panthers got a rouge from Patrick Healey.

           Ben Hayden ran for a touchdown and kicked a convert to lift the Nordics to their win. Brandon Ferris had the other six pointer.

           Panthers QB Jordie Strohm ran one touchdown, passed to Michael Steele for another as well as kicking a rouge to lead Oromocto to victory. Steele also returned an interception for six points. Jesse Gauvreau had the other Panthers major. Patrick Healey added a convert.   

October 15                                  Commander's Cup I

           Joel Toole's second touchdown of the game in the second overtime period gave the Tigers the Town of Oromocto championship. 
           Patrick Healey replied for the Panthers.

             Wildcats QB Josh Campbell rushed for one touchdown and passed to Matt Lavigne for another as Devon recorded their first win of the season. Lavigne also rushed for a TD.
             Tommy McGinn returned a kickoff 75 yards for the lone Eagles major. Philippe Long added the convert.

           Close to 700 spectators watched the Nordics record their second straight bowl win.
           Ben Hayden opened the scoring in the second quarter with ten yard touchdown run. In the third quarter Nordics pivot Jason Hearn hooked up with Anthony Crouse for a pair of touchdown passes. Derek Broad added one more six pointer in the fourth quarter.

           Crusaders QB Mathieu MacDonald threw touchdown passes to Garrett Gee and Thomas Tremblay. David Thomas added two more majors on the ground. Alex Dee connected with Tremblay for six more points. Jeff Holden kicked a pair of converts.

           Jesse Gauvreau rushed for two touchdowns to carry the Panthers to victory.

             Two undefeated teams met in a seesaw battle that was not decided until the game's final minute.
             Joel Toole rushed for two Tigers' TDs. James Mitchell returned an interception for another six pointer. Mitchell McCoy scored the game winning touchdown as well as kicking a convert and a rouge.
            David Thomas found the end zone three times for the Crusaders. QB Mathieu MacDonald connected with Patrick Surette for another six points. Jeff Holden added a convert.

September 26             Oromocto Tigers 35 Devon Wildcats 6 

           Joel Toole ran from scrimmage for two Tiger touchdowns as well returning a kickoff for a third. Oromocto QB James Mitchell found Cody Sweeny in the end zone for another major and Peter Wilde ran back a punt for six more points. Mitchell McCoy booted a pair of two point conversions and Zach MacLaren ran in a single point convert.
           Josh Campbell passed to Paul Breen for the Wildcats only score.

September 24             Oromocto Panthers 26 Devon Wildcats 12 

           Jesse Gauvreau rushed for two touchdowns, returned a punt for another and ran back an interception for one more to carry the Panthers to their third win of the season. Patrick Healey kicked a convert.
           Josh Campbell scored both Wildcats TDs the team's first ones of the year.

           The Crusaders recorded their first ever win over the Eagles in a game played at College Field in front of the students from both school plus a contingent from Ecole Ste. Anne; close to 1,400 spectators.
            David Thomas was a one man wrecking crew for George, scoring all four of their touchdowns. Jeff Holden added a convert.
            Justin Kearney had the lone Eagles six pointer.

September 19             Oromocto Panthers 20 Devon Wildcats 0 

           Patrick Healey, Josh Payne and Jesse Gauvreau each had a touchdown for the Panthers. Healey also kicked a convert.

             Tom MacLean rushed for two Nordics TDs. QB Jason Hearn hooked up with Anthony Crouse on a 20 yard touchdown pass. Crouse also added a convert.

Jesse Gauvreau was a one man demolition squad for the Panthers, rushing for two touchdowns and returning punts for two more. Tyler Beauchamp added one more six pointer and Patrick Healey kicked two converts.
              Brandon Ferris scored both Nordics touchdowns.

September 12               George Street Crusaders 20 Nashwaaksis Nordics7 

           After a scoreless first half that featured unyielding defences Thomas Tremblay returned the second half kickoff  75 yards to put the Crusaders up 6-0.
           With less than five minutes remaining in the game the Nordics defence intercepted a George Street pass and set the offence up on the Crusaders 25 yard line. From there Nasis drove for paydirt with Ben Hayden bulling into the end zone from four yards out. Anthony Crouse caught a pass from Hayden for the convert to put the Nordics up 7-6 with three minutes remaining.
           The Crusaders put together a drive in the game's dying minutes that finished with Alex De  finding Patrick Surette in the end zone from five yards out. Jeff Holden  added the convert to put George Street ahead 14-7.
           On the ensuing Nasis possession in the final minute, Crusaders linebacker Shawn Reid  intercepted a fourth down pass and returned it for the insurance TD.

             Joel Toole rushed for two touchdowns and James Mitchell returned a punt for one more as the Tigers won their second in a row. The Tigers' defence has yet to allow a point this season.

           David Thomas rushed for two Crusaders majors. Jay Murray ran back a kickoff 75 yards for the other. Jeff Holden booted two converts.
           Jesse  Gauvreau broke loose on a 70 yard for the Panthers only touchdown.

             Kyle Arsenault connected with Tommy McGinn on a ten yard touchdown pass for the Eagles lone major score. Justin Kearny ran for the one point conversion.
